She was the beloved daughter of Carey G. and Cleone Mumford.
Nancy pursued her education at North Carolina State University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Mathematics in 1959. She made history as one of the first two women to graduate in Engineering Mathematics, and her achievements are celebrated in "100 Years of Women at NC State". Nancy began her career with IBM’s Federal Systems Division and later joined EDS in Dallas, TX as a systems analyst. She concluded her professional journey as a successful entrepreneur, co-owning the IT marketing consulting company Channel Strategies in Palo Alto, CA.
Outside of her career, Nancy was known for her passion for kaleidoscopes, collecting them avidly. She was actively involved in her church community and dedicated much of her time to volunteering. Nancy had a deep love for travel, particularly enjoying visits to lighthouses, train journeys across Canada, and the iconic Orient Express. Maui held a special place in her heart, where she frequented several times annually.
Nancy was a devoted mother and grandmother, cherishing moments spent attending her children’s and grandchildren’s events, whether wrestling matches, swim meets, triathlons, or dance recitals.
