Norma went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 29th at the age of 74 at Medical Center of Plano after a short, rapid decline in health. She is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her daughter Sherri (& husband, Rex) Morgan of Carrollton and her son Larry (& wife, Andrea) Galbraith of Dallas. Five grandchildren include Calan (& wife, Tracy) Morgan, Attalie Morgan, Micah Morgan (& fiancée, Jourdan Shearman), Lauren Galbraith, and Nicholas Galbraith.
Norma grew up in Nelta until the family moved to Dallas in 1951. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School and graduated on June 1, 1956. She married Lawrence Galbraith III on August 23, 1957 and they were married for 22 years.
Norma worked outside the home most of her adult life, and had many memorable jobs, one of which was at Dallas Christian Schools in the Business office where she worked from 1967-1974. From there, she left to go to work in the accounting department for the parent company of Bonanza Steakhouse. (Norma’s job change resulted in a memorable benefit... the entire DCS football team got to eat steak before one of their Friday night games!) Norma’s career in the financial world continued with her accepting positions as Manager of Administration and Financial Control, Controller, and then on to being an Assistant Vice President. While continuing her business career, she attended night school at Le Tourneau University, graduating June 13, 1993 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management. Norma retired from the financial world in the Financial Trust Department at Bank One.
In her retirement years, Norma enjoyed reading and attending her book club. She loved “surfing the web” on her computer and developed a love of technology with her iPad. She loved crossword puzzles and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Norma enjoyed attending many of her grandchildren’s sporting events and sharing in their lives.
More recently she enjoyed a wonderful group of friends who shared movie nights, social hours, potluck dinners, and eating pie together.
Norma loved the Lord and was a faithful follower of Christ. She attended Churches of Christ since her childhood and had been a member at Prestoncrest Church of Christ for over 20 years.
Although we mourn her passing, we celebrate her life and rejoice knowing she is now pain free and loving life in heaven!
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent in Norma Galbraith’s memory to Dallas Christian Schools.
