Peter Richard Scovill passed away peacefully February 4, 2025. Better known to friends and family as Rick, our Dad lived his life to his fullest, doing whatever he could for those around him. After graduating from West Point in 1972, he served in Korea, and later was stationed in Texas, where he married and had two children. After the Army he worked as a consultant for several companies that saw him traveling all over the United States and internationally.
His career was interrupted after surgery brought unexpected complications leaving him partially paralyzed, and preventing him from continuing work. Despite the daily challenges he faced, he met life with resilience, finding new ways to approach the things he loved. From home projects, researching family histories, decorating for the holidays, and providing for those around him, he continued to remain positive, eager, and enthusiastic. He was able to accomplish many of those things at his home in Plano, Texas with his cat Rocket, dear friend Mary Newport, and kids Charlotte and Alex. Even though his world became smaller in the face of illness he was able to greatly impact on the lives around him with kindness, laughter, and an almost annoying amount of persistence – if you know you know.
He is survived by two children, Charlotte and Alex and their partners Curt and Rob. His siblings Missy, Leslie, and Randy, niece and nephews Kailin, James, and Peter. And his closest and dearest friends Connie, Mary and Russell. Rick loved to joke and make light of any situation and had a gift for listening and offering comfort. He embraced each day with a strength many will never understand, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication.
