

Roderick Clive Browne was born November 1, 1945 in Sion Hill, St. Vincent, West Indies to mother, Elsie Browne Davidson, and father, Sydney Hewitt. Growing up, Roderick lived with brother Montgomery Davidson, stepsister Veronica Davidson and stepbrother Gary Davidson.
While growing up in St. Vincent, he spent a great deal of time with his maternal grandparents, his Uncle Samuel and Aunt Doreen. Roderick excelled in sports, especially track and field, and academics. After completing high school at St. Vincent Grammar School, Roderick emigrated to the United States to join his mother and other family members. He graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree from the City College of the City University of New York (CCNY). Roderick worked as a Chemical Engineer at Procter and Gamble, Ocean Spray, Nabisco, Inc. and Frito-Lay. Roderick was very involved in the Caribbean community wherever he lived. He founded the Caribbean Cultural Association (CCA) in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was very involved with the organization until he left Cincinnati. He was married to Cynthia James Browne Oyenuga. He was the father of four children, Tanya Browne and Lakeesha Browne – mother, Dolphene Davis, Nyasha Browne – mother, Cynthia James Browne Oyenuga, and Branon Browne – mother, Diana Osborne.
Over the years, Roderick lived in New York, Cincinnati, Dallas, Rhode Island and, most recently, West Palm Beach, Florida. He loved being near the ocean. He loved all genres of music, especially jazz. He loved attending auctions and garage sales, wheeling and dealing for the best bargain. He loved good exotic foods, eating out, entertaining and was always the life of the party. He could strike up a conversation with any stranger, any time, any place, as if he knew them for years. Rod will be missed by all who knew him.
