Wayne was born on September 26th, 1939, in New Philadelphia, Illinois to his parents Dorothy and Wayne Currens Jr. He grew up in Illinois and graduated from Galesburg High School. After high school, Wayne had an illustrious career in the food service industry, operating restaurants all around the Midwest before eventually relocating to Texas.
In 1990, Wayne met his wife of 30 years, Arlene Buchner here in Texas. He welcomed her two children and together they lovingly raised 9 children, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Wayne and Arlene successfully operated The Furniture Shop for decades, thriving as a family business and a true staple in the community. Wayne's incredible work ethic and tireless dedication to his family will always be remembered and appreciated as his legacy continues to expand down generations.
Wayne is survived by his brother, Charles; sister, Donna Jean; daughters and sons, Debbie, Steven, Carrie Jo, Christopher, Kyle and Kevin; his stepchildren, Christina and Steven; as well as many loving extended family members and descendants.
