

Wende Waterman Weinberg, a lifelong Jewish educator, died at the age of 57 on December 4, 2016 in Plano, Texas following an heroic battle with lung cancer. Wende, the youngest of three children was born on March 19, 1959 in Germantown, PA to Martin and Maxine (Orman) Waterman, and raised by her stepmother, Kay (Leider) Waterman.
Wende was senior class president of Alexander Hamilton High School in West Los Angeles, CA, earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Psychology at California State University, Northridge, and received her Master’s degree in Jewish Education from the University of Judaism in LA.
Wende met the love of her life, Rabbi Stefan Weinberg at the University of Judaism. Together they enjoyed 34 years of an amazing marriage, serving the Jewish community in Dallas, TX with honor, and blessed with three beautiful girls who were their pride and joy. Wende’s passion for Jewish education enabled her to impact the lives of hundreds of students at the Ann and Nate Levine Academy for more than 30 years. Next to her husband she helped to create the vibrant synagogue that bears her mark in so many ways- Congregation Anshai Torah.
Defined by her passion, tenacity, warmth, smile, indomitable will, ambition, and generosity Wende left her mark on this world. She is survived by her husband, Stefan, her three daughters, Danielle (Gilad), Jordana, and Adina, her brother, Bruce (Debbie), sister, Debbe (Barry), sisters-in-law, Laureen, Jacqui (Larry), brother-in-law Jefry (Alla), nieces and nephews- Matt, Lacey, Jason, (Jillian), Michelle, Bryan, (Melissa) and Josephine, Lauren, and Angela, and many loving cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held at Congregation Anshai Torah, 5501 West Parker Road, Plano, TX, 75093 at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 6. Rabbis Michael Kushnick and William Gershon will be officiating. Interment of the body will take place at the Congregation Anshai Torah Cemetery, located at Restland Memorial Park.
