Alma Ruiz Cervantes

Alma Ruiz Cervantes, Age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, April 28, 2023, in Delano, CA, after a progressive illness over the last four years. She was born October 27, 1938, in Ciudad Obregon, Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Manuel Z. Cervantes Sr., her parents, Teodoro and Francisca, her brothers, Teodoro Jr. and Marco, and her sisters Elba, Dalia, and most recently, her best friend and sister, Maya.

She leaves behind a legacy with her loving children Luis Ruiz (Karen), Manuel Jr (Suzie) (Rosie), America Terronez (Alfred), and Eloy (Brenda). Her greatest joy in recent years has been her grandchildren - Brandin, Manuel III (Kelli), Cheyenne Rolleston (Sean), Alfred Dakota Terronez, Mia - and great-grandchildren - Elliot, Andrew, Cillian, and just one month ago - her first great-granddaughter, Liv Carmen, who she was able to meet prior to her death. She also leaves behind her brothers Arturo (Marta), Eduardo (Cecilia), and Carlos (Rosita).

Before her illness, Alma loved to sew - making many beautiful dresses for Luis and America’s weddings - and cook - her flour tortillas and tamales were unrivaled. What she loved most though was spending hours at the table with all of her family drinking coffee, eating something sweet, and talking. She was the nucleus of her family and will be sorely missed.

A graveside service for Alma will be held Monday, May 15, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at North Kern District Cemetery, 627 Austin St., Delano, CA 93215.
