He passed away on April 4, 2017 in Delano, CA. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Consuelo Soriano, their 3 sons, Nathaniel and Marcie Soriano, Norman and Gloria Soriano and Benjamin and Pacita Soriano, Jr.; sister, Elenita Soriano Quiron; grandchildren, Justin and Darlene Harrold, Nathaniel and Melisa Soriano, Jr. and Jason and Candace Rein, Paul Kervin, Ma Consuelo, Lemar, Norwin, Rochelle, Chriselle, Reynielle and Angelle; great-grandchildren, Leiah, Iris and Keith including aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Benjamin worked as a government clerk in the Philippines. In 1993, he joined his eldest son, Nathan, and Marcie in the U.S. to help raise their 3 children. He drove them to and from school and tutored them in their homework assignments up until college. He enjoyed family road trips during summer vacations. He was an avid cross-word puzzle enthusiast and had an invaluable talent for reciting excerpts from speeches, biblical scriptures and musical lyrics. In his spare time, he would cultivate his garden and spend his restful hours reading in a hammock nestled under the grapefruit trees. Benjamin shared a love story with Consuelo that few are able to witness or experience. The foundation of their relationship was based on love, humility and mutual respect. When asked what the secret to their lasting marriage was, he simply replied, "Don't try to change someone." Benjamin lived a life full of trials and celebrations but through it all, his faith in the Lord never wavered. God had called for Benjamin to rest in eternal peace in recognition for all the good work he has done. May God grant him everlasting life
