Frances Ramirez Montiel

Frances Ramirez Montiel, age 88, of Delano, CA passed away on Tuesday August 22, 2017 surrounded by her family. Frances was born June 4, 1929 in Indio, California to Gregorio and Guadalupe Ramirez. She was the eldest of 12 brothers and sisters. Frances was united in marriage to Mike Montiel on November 24, 1949 in Monrovia, California. He preceded her in death on September 2, 2009. They were married for 59 years.

Frances "Kika" is survived by her children and their spouses; Gloria (Michael) Olguin, Ramona Cruz, Felix (Margarita) Montiel, Jenny (Poli) Flores, Christina Montiel, Cathy (Alex) Uranday, Patricia (Bob) Marquez and Michael (Marisela) Montiel; son-in-law Tim Bays; 21 loving grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; her faithful dog Daisy and bird Pete.

In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded in death by her daughter Martha Bays.

Our mother will always be remembered by her sass and wit, she was never one to not speak her mind. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and family will always remember her words of wisdom. After her mother’s death she assumed the role of the family matriarch, her expanded family loved and honored her. She taught and cared for every one of her grandchildren, the bond she had with her family can never be broken. We have truly lost the most amazing woman we know.

She has been quoted to say “her greatest accomplishments were her children”. We will always remember her stories which amazed and sometimes shocked us.

She loved gardening, going to the casino, watching CNN and of course she never missed the Voice, Blake Shelton was her favorite.

A visitation and rosary for Frances will be held Monday, August 28, 2017 at Delano Mortuary, 707 Browning Road, Delano. Visitation will occur from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm; a rosary will begin at 6:00 pm. A mass of christian burial will occur Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe , 1015 Clinton St., Delano , CA, 93215. She will be laid to rest on Tuesday August 29th at North Kern District Cemetery, 627 Austin St., Delano, proceeding her mass.
