

James Evermont Phillips, 88 was born April 16, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA to Jack and Gertrude Phillips. He grew up on a farm outside Earlimart, CA. He went to school in Earlimart and graduated from Delano High School in 1941. He went to work on the Jack C. Phillips Ranch farming and doing mechanic work. His work also involved the design and construction of several duck clubs in the Alpaugh area. He met the love of his life, Irettia 'Rita' Phillips and married her in 1945. Jim as a member of the Delano Elks Lodge for 45 years. Generous of spirit, he was always willing to help others. His family was always his first priority and will be greatly missed by them.
Jim is preceded in death by his father and mother, Jack and Gertrude Phillips; a brother Robert Phillips; nephew, Jim Phillips; and his wife Rita Phillips. He is survived by his brother, Jack, and his wife, Doris; daughters Pam Mundy and husband Jim of Bakersfield, CA, and Elizabeth 'Buffy' Trinchero and husband Don of Gilroy, CA. Grandchildren Tom Mundy, Ricky Mundy, Gerad Trinchero (wife Erica and stepchildren Dillon, Eden, and Blake), Andrea Trinchero, and Diana Trinchero. Also nieces, Judy (husband Kim Robertson and great nephew Dillon Robertson) and Joan (husband Linsey Orr), and a nephew, Jack Phillips (wife Sheri).

Visitation will be Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Delano Mortuary. Funeral Service will be Friday, July 1, 2011 from 9:30-10:30 at Delano Mortuary Chapel. Final resting place will be North Kern District Cemetery in Delano, California.
