Victoriano Correo Calimag Sr., 82, of Delano, California passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021. Victoriano was born on February 25, 1939 in Enrile, Cagayan, Philippines. The eldest son of the late Aurea Correo-Calimag and Vicente Calimag Sr. He was married to Erlinda Samonte and was blessed with eight children, also strong-willed as he is: Lydia, Victoriano Jr., Vincent, Vivencio, Voltaire, Vergel, Vener, and Aurea. He was lovingly adored by his eleven talented and smart grandchildren: Adrienne, Kyle, Keefe, Karl, Lyanna, Kalvin, Third, Marcus, Ashtein, Kervin and Erin. He graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting at Far Eastern University, Philippines.
In the Philippines, Victoriano worked as the manager of a finance company. He was also employed as the General Manager of Motor Center, a Mazda car dealership. Victoriano enjoyed playing golf with his friends, peers and co-workers during his spare time and was a member of the Golf Club in Dagupan City, Philippines. His mastered signature yet smooth swing that always attained multiple awards, especially the “Hole in One” ones.
Victoriano migrated to the United States in September 1998 and enthusiastically worked at Walmart as a Sales Associate for 14 years.
Victoriano was fondly called “Nanoy” by his ten siblings and relatives. He was a loving filial son and generous to his parents. He believed in the importance of a solid education and after graduation he fulfilled the promise to his father by sending off his siblings to college which resulted in four of his siblings obtaining their bachelor’s degrees. He was a responsible provider and each of his eight children also successfully achieved their bachelor’s degrees. He will be remembered for his love, kindness, and sincere compassion to those especially in need. He was a loving and faithful husband to his dear wife, a wonderful and selfless dad to his children and grandchildren, an awesome and cool father-in-law, an amazing brother to his siblings, a caring uncle to his nephews and nieces, and a loyal friend to lean on in difficult times. Ultimately, Victoriano “Nanoy” Calimag, Sr. was a beautiful and gentle soul with a generous heart.
Scheduled events are as follows:
- A visitation for Victoriano will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Delano Mortuary (located at 707 Browning Rd., Delano, CA 93215). A rosary, during the visitation hours, will begin at 4:00 PM (same day and location - Delano Mortuary).
- A mass of Christian burial will then occur the following day, Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary's of the Miraculous Medal Parish (located at 916 Lexington St., Delano, CA 93215). A committal service will then follow (same day - Tuesday, November 9, 2021) at 11:00 AM at North Kern District Cemetery (located at 627 Austin St., Delano, CA 93215).
