

DeQuincy - Jasper Sanford Russell, 84, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014 in a local hospital.
Mr. Russell was a lifetime resident of DeQuincy, a member of The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy and also a member of VFW Post 2132 of Lake Charles. He retired from the Missouri Union Pacific Railroad and also owned and operated a freight business, a service station and the B & R Cafe. Mr. Russell was a veteran of the US Army having served in Korea. He loved to fish and hunt, he loved animals and visiting with friends and relatives. He also loved to be outside with his cup of coffee. He helped anyone and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Dollie Russell; brothers, Arthur, Harry and Charles Russell; sisters, June Russell and Patsy Russell Craft. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara Fox Russell of DeQuincy; son, Jasper R. "Jay" Russell and wife Lisa of DeQuincy; sisters in law, Vera & Jennifer; grand-daughter, Ashley Broussard and husband Jason of Lake Charles; great-grand-daughter, Brenna Bernhardt of Lake Charles. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and 1 great-great nephew.
His funeral service will be at 2:00pm Wednesday February 12, 2014 in The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy with Rev. Wayne Neyland officiating. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 11 at Hixson Snider Funeral Home Chapel from 4:00pm until 9:00pm and will resume on Wednesday at 9:00am until service time at the church.
