

Jake was born in DeQuincy and lived there all his life. He worked for Newport Industries till they closed then went to work for C. Paul Phelps Correctional Center till he retired; after retirement he worked for DeQuincy High School as a Janitor. He was a dedicated worker and followed DeQuincy school sports. Jake was also an active member of the First Baptist Church of DeQuincy and he especially loved his church family. He was always a silent supporter for others, never wanting to be in the lime light or recognized. He gave to others from his heart not wanting or desiring any credit. Jake was a loving son, brother, and uncle who loved all his family. He will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Betty Henagan and husband, Charles Ray; one sister-in-law, Norma Patterson; two uncles, Albert and Leonard Clifton all of DeQuincy; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Ovada Patterson; grandparents; one brother, Lynn Dale Patterson; and one sister, Bobbie Kelly.
His Home-Going Service will be 11am Tuesday, May 27, in First Baptist Church of DeQuincy. The Rev. Warren Clifton and Rev. Gil Arthur will officiate. Visitation is from 5-8pm Monday, May 26, and will resume 9-11am Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.
