

DeQuincy - Sherry K. Young, 65, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in her residence.
Mrs. Young was a member of Full Life Assembly of God Church of DeQuincy. She loved music and singing. She played guitar and sang with the praise and worship team at her church for many years. Mrs. Young loved teaching children about the Lord. She was a loving wife of 47 years.She was very involved in the services at Greenhill Nursing Home and loved lifting their spirits through playing and singing about the Lord. She loved animals and gardening. She never met a stranger and was a mother figure to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Levergne Degler and Opal Davis; her brother Terry Lee Degler and sister, Verna Bigelow.
Survivors include her husband Kenneth Young of DeQuincy, La.; step-father, Edwin "Pops" Davis of Waunakee, Wisconsin; daughter, Kaylene Marcantel and husband Dale of Sulphur; brother, Gary Degler and wife Glayds of Tomah, Wisconsin; sister, Jean Gordon and husband Brad of Saulkville, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Dawn Cooper and husband Trace of Sulphur, and Rebecca Marcantel and fiance' Ryan Gary of Sulphur; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation on Friday, August 10, 2012 will begin at 2:00p.m. at Full Assembly of God Church of DeQuincy and continue on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. until service time. Her funeral will be at the church on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 2:00p.m. Pastor Greg Cavenah and Pastor Ken Hooper will officiate.
