

Singer – William “Bill” Allen Magel, Sr., 79, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Thursday, June 6, 2013 in a Lake Charles hospital.
Born in Tipp City, Ohio to the late Robert & Florence (Hartley) Magel, Bill lived in Singer, La .He proudly served in the USAF, retiring after 21 years and was a Vietman Veteran. He was in the He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church where he was a deacon and taught Sunday School. He also served on the executive board of the Beauregard Baptist Association. Bill was the long- time chairman of the board for fire district #1, with his desire for the best equipment, training and fire protection for his community. He retired from Citgo as an Instrument Technician. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Greta Magel of Singer; son, William (JR) A. Magel, Jr. and wife Faye of Sulphur; daughters, Paula White of DeQuincy and Tracey Rust of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Erica Magel, Andrew Magel and wife Ashlyn, Emily Magel and Rachel Rust.
Funeral services will be at 3:00p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013 in Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Steven Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be the District #1 Fire Chiefs. Visitation will be on Saturday June 8, in Hixson Snider Funeral Chapel from 5:00 to 8:00pm and resume on Sunday at the church from 2:00pm until service time.
