Alna Mae Purves

Alna was a lifelong member of Valley Farms Baptist Church serving in many roles: Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, Women's Circle Leader, Pianist, Choir Member, Youth Group Leader. She loved her years working in the Lansing School District serving the staff, children, and families. Alna worked beside her husband in numerous community organizations, and spent her life in service to others, including being a caregiver for many.

She found pleasure in quilting, crafting, hosting with her sweet southern charm and cherishing memories made at Pretty Lake.

One of Mom's greatest loves was her husband, children and their families, especially gathering everyone for Holidays and Sunday dinners, attending and supporting our many activities, and just visiting together.

Alna was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years: William (Bill) Purves.

Loving mother to Brenda and Paul Weinner, Bryan and Janette Purves, and Bradley and Holly Purves. Devoted grandma to Karl and Lauren Weinner, Rebekah and Richard Spease, Victoria Weinner, JL and Kara Purves, McKenna Purves, and Megan Purves. Precious Nanny to Elizabeth, Henry, Charlotte, May, Autumn, and Ember.

Alna loved all of her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She thought of all of her cousins as brothers and sisters and cherished the many childhood memories they shared.

Alna was humble, gracious, and kind to all. She lived out her favorite scripture in honor and love of her Lord and Savior- "This is the day which the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it."

The Celebration of Life Service will be held at DeWitt Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home,

205 E Washington St, DeWitt, MI 48820 on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Vistation will be from11:00 am to 1:00 pm with Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 pm., Pastor Dave Leisman officiating.
