well lived. He was 87.
Born November 26,1933, he was the eldest son of Carl and Hilda
Bollman. After growing up on a farm outside of Lansing, he served his country in Korea before
coming back to finish his studies at Michigan State University and then launch a successful
insurance career. His life centered around faith and family. He adored his wife, Janie, and
together they built a wonderful life together filled with travel around the world, camping trips
across the country, summer days spent on the golf course or at the cottage, and winter days
spent on countless card games. He was an avid MSU sports fan and enjoyed joining friends and
family to watch the games. Family gatherings were among his greatest joys--particularly
spending time with his grandchildren, and he never tired of hearing how each of them were
doing. He was also very involved with activities at St.Therese Church, where he and Janie were
members for over 60 years, and very involved within the community, as past president of the
Downtown Coaches Club, past president of the Lansing Sunrise Rotary Club, and a longtime
member of the Rebounders Club and the Knights of Columbus. He lived a full life; true to
himself, sustained by his faith, and with a friendly and generous spirit-- he was well loved.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janie; children, John (Karen) Bollman, Jan Bollman, Dan
(Stephanie) Bollman, Deb (Don) McSween, and Mike (Mary) Bollman; brother James (Janice)
Bollman and sister Josephine Freund; sister-in-law JoAnne Bollman; 13 grandchildren; 4 great
grandchildren; and a large extended family. His brother Bob Bollman, sister and her husband
Betty and Tom Lehman, sister and her husband Judy and Joe O’Leary, and sister-in-law, Diane
Bollman predeceased him.
A funeral mass and a celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27,
