Debra Jean (Clark) Zeeb, 68, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord Jesus on December 21, 2021. Deb was born in Lansing, MI on January 31, 1953, the daughter of Robert and Eloise (McNeely) Clark. She graduated from DeWitt High School in 1971 and then successfully and proudly put herself through nursing school at Lansing Community College while at the same time raising her beloved son, Scott. After receiving her RN certification Deb began her nursing career on the cardiac care floor of Lansing General Hospital. She realized her true calling and passion when she moved to the special care nursery where she lovingly cared for critically ill newborns and their mothers. After the merging of Lansing General and Ingham Medical hospitals, Deb became a patient representative and liaison, which was a position perfectly suited to her skills. Even after her retirement, Deb kept her knowledge up to date by reading medical journals and articles. She was our go-to person for any health related questions or concerns and an advocate for anyone who needed help navigating their healthcare. She was always willing to accompany her loved ones to appointments or procedures and had no problem questioning and critiquing doctors’ orders if she believed there was a better way. You could not ask for a better person to have in your corner than Deb.
Debbie married the love of her life, Brian Zeeb, in 1988 and remained happily married until the time of her passing. Deb and Brian enjoyed a quiet and peaceful life, with lots of time spent at the family cottage at Torch Lake enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings, boat rides and quiet evenings fishing together.
Deb loved all animals and had a special connection to them. She loved to feed her birds, chipmunks and deer. She would also help any animal in need, wild or stray, utilizing her nursing skills.
Deb was blessed with three grandchildren whom she loved dearly. Grandma Debbie loved to play outdoors with the kids, building beautiful fairy gardens and running through the paths in the yard playing “Mama Deer’ while her “baby deer” chased after her! She was also a proud spectator at many of their soccer games.
Christmas was a very special time to Grandma Debbie and she spent countless hours making lists and shopping. She enjoyed selecting the perfect gifts for everyone. Overflowing stockings were the norm at Grandma and Grandpa’s house and she loved seeing everyone’s smiles when they opened their presents before sitting down to a delicious dinner followed by Grandma Debbie’s amazing apple pie and pumpkin pies!
Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Eloise and her cherished big sister, Sandra Robinson. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Brian Zeeb, her beloved son, Scott (Kathy Heiner) Zeeb, stepchildren, Nikki (Zeeb) Fowler and Joe Zeeb and her beautiful grandchildren, Maya, Ian and Julia. Also surviving are her sister, Terresa Acou and brother-in-law, Larry Robinson, nephews Rodney Acou, Troy Acou, Randy (Renee) Easterbrook and Ryan (Michelle) Easterbrook as well as numerous aunts and cousins.
A memorial celebration of Debra’s life will be held on April 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. at DeWitt City Hall Community Room, 414 E. Main St., DeWitt, MI 48820.
In lieu of flowers, please hang a bird feeder from your tree and remember Deb with love as you care for her birds.
