Dennis Keith O'Dell

Okemos, MI formerly of Perry, MI - Dennis Keith O'Dell, age 90, passed away at home on January 7th, 2022. He was born August 14th, 1931, to the late Wellington and Beatrice O'Dell.

After high school Dennis was drafted to serve in the US Marine Corp where he served as a cook. He continued to share his love of cooking with family and church friends serving up delicious meals and enjoying the company of those around him. Dennis loved people and never met a stranger. After his service in the Marine Corp Dennis worked several jobs before settling into his career at General Motors where he worked in the spray booth painting automobiles, retiring in 1988.

Dennis met and married the love of his life Edna Kirby on January 30, 1954. Together they raised four children and many animals on their small farm outside of Perry. Dennis loved his tractors and he spent many evenings plowing or planting often with one of his kids on the wheel well.

Dennis was kindhearted and gave generously of his time, talents, and resources to family members, friends and his church. Dennis lived out his faith daily and is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Edna and two daughters, Diane (Doug) Tindall of Cassapolis and Patricia Hummel of Okemos. He leaves behind six grandchildren, Jeremy (Rachel) Tindall, Gabrielle (Scott) McCumons, Faith (Gregg) Pratt, Blake (Helen) Hummel, Denae (Logan) Tomaszewski, and AJ Hummel, four great grandchildren and several siblings.

He was preceded in death by his baby daughter Kathleen, his sons Gary O'Dell and Jeff O'Dell, as well as his parents and two siblings.

The family will receive friends on January 14th from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at Heritage Baptist Church in Dewitt. A Celebration of Life will be held on January 15th at 11:00 AM at Heritage Baptist Church in Dewitt. A meal will follow the service.
