

Donald Douglas Hiatt, 83, of Bath, Michigan passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at Fairview Adult Foster Care, Grand Ledge, Michigan. He was born December 6, 1933 in Lansing, Michigan to Leonard Hiatt, Sr. and Kitty May (Vail) Hiatt. Soon after graduating from Bath High School in 1951 he was hired by General Motors where he worked 40+ years, retiring as a skilled trades tinsmith. Don was an avid Tigers baseball fan and loved his MSU Spartans. Golfing and bowling were among his favorite pastimes. He also loved to tinker in his garage, building what he needed from scratch, including the home in which he raised his family. Every spring and summer he liked planting and harvesting his garden. After retirement, he enjoyed spending winters in Zephyrhills, Florida with his friends from Canada.
Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia (Cole) Hiatt; sons, Daniel (LuAnn), Douglas, and Mark (Belinda); daughters, Debbie Grounds and Kristal Brown; stepson, Victor St. Clair; fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Kitty May; brother, Leonard Jr.; daughter, Nannette Jo; and grandson, David Earl.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am February 16, 2017 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI 48820.
The family will receive visitors from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm on February 15, 2017, and one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Fairview Adult Foster Care, 11656 N. Hartel Road, Grand Ledge, MI 48837 in Don’s name where a memorial will be placed in his honor. The family would like to give special thanks to Joe and Barb Frazier and their staff for the loving and compassionate care that was given to their father during his stay with them.
