Eugene (Gene) Charles Flore, Jr., 80, of Saint Helen, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, his late mother Beverly’s birthday. Gene was born June 21, 1944, in Flint, Michigan, to Eugene Charles Flore, Sr. and Beverly Elaine Flore (Stedman).
Gene dedicated much of his life to public service, proudly serving as a Michigan State Trooper from 1968 to 1993. After retiring from law enforcement, he channeled his passion for craftsmanship into his business, Quality Craftsman LLC, which he owned and operated from 2001 until 2021.
Gene found solace and joy in nature, particularly during his time at his cabin in Canada. His love for the outdoors reflected his longing for peace.
Gene is survived by his sons, Jerry Flore and Ken Flore, as well as 25 grandchildren and “a lot more” great-grandchildren, who will remember him as a loving and steadfast patriarch. He is also survived by his siblings Barb Raab, Ron Flore, Janet Flore, and Carol Wells. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Charles Flore, Sr. (1918–2002) and Beverly Elaine Flore (1921–2001).
A private family memorial to honor Gene’s life will be held in March, 2025.
Arrangements are being handled by: Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, MI 48820. For more information, please contact 517-669-6465.
Gene will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of service, craftsmanship, and love of family will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
