Evelyn is survived by her sister, Darlene (George) Fries of Hope, MI; son, Mike (Tracy) Riley of Lakeview, MI; daughter, Tamela Riley of Bath, MI; grandchildren, Beth (Steve) Spinner of St. Johns, MI, Bekah (Perry) Kaguni of Lansing, MI; great-granddaughters, Avery and Eliana Spinner; and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was a proud military wife early in her marriage and often told stories of her time spent in California. Upon returning to Michigan, Evelyn worked for Oldsmobile for 30 years and was proud of the work that she did. She worked hard and was a proud Union member. Evelyn enjoyed the fruits of her labor, spending time camping, traveling, time up north, and playing hard with her family, who she loved spending time with. Evelyn enjoyed many activities with her husband George including bowling and attended tournaments across the country, golfing on various leagues, making sure George knew what he needed to do (which he willingly obliged). Evelyn also enjoyed crocheting and sewing, often times making pajamas, slippers, and dish cloths that she found a great deal of joy in giving to her family.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband and best friend of 60 years, George. She was also preceded by her son, Brian; granddaughter, Danielle; nephews, Steven and Nikolas; and niece, Krista.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living for their care during Evelyn's final days.
