Fern D. Hogle

Fern was born to Fred D. and Iva (Waggoner) Powers on December 31, 1929 in Lansing, Michigan. She graduated from Eastern High School and married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Hogle. The two of them spent 73 wonderful years together before Dick's passing in March 2021. Fern was a former Girl Scout leader and a cook at DeWitt High School for 14 years.

Fern took delight in travelling the world, camping, and especially watching and feeding the birds and the squirrels. She enjoyed hobby crafts, spending time with her friends and family, and hosting social events in the family home built by her beloved husband that she's lived in for the last 63 years. Her family fondly remembers her as being a good homemaker, an excellent cook, and a master of arts and crafts.

Fern is survived by her son, Mike (Cindy) Hogle; daughter, Roxanne (Jon) Smith; sister, June Smith; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard D. Hogle; brother, Arden Powers; sister, Mary Kelley, and parents, Fred and Iva Powers.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Gorsline Runciman DeWitt Chapel, 205 E Washington, DeWitt, MI 48820. Following the service, Fern will be laid to rest next to her late husband in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 4444 W Grand River Ave, Lansing, MI 48906. Following the graveside service, the family invites you to join them for a light luncheon at the VFW Hall, 12250 Old U.S. 27, DeWitt, MI 48820.
