James Wilson Mosier, born April 12, 1948, is now sitting at “The Big Table” with his Lord, Jesus Christ, having left his earthly body behind on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at his home, surrounded by many who loved him.
Jim was a fascinating man. As someone who truly liked to experience life, he had many passions over the years. Learning to box early in life, he was once a Golden Gloves boxing champion. An avid foodie, he was happiest in local places—or anywhere that had good fish. He loved going to breakfast and never met a piece of extra-crispy bacon he didn’t like… although he preferred his son Steve’s bacon to any restaurants'.
In early adulthood, Jim enjoyed many things—you might find him in a pool hall, playing softball, or umpiring a game. With his first wife, Judy, his children Kristen and Chad grew up around the ball fields. He was known to be in as many as three leagues at a time.
Later, in mid-life, Jim spent time as a DJ for weddings and karaoke, which he loved doing with his second wife, Diane, to whom he was married until she passed four years ago. They fell in love singing and playing golf together—something they enjoyed for many years.
His children from his marriage to Diane (Scott, Robin, and Kevin) have beautiful memories of his presence on stage, singing iconic songs such as Unchained Melody and God Bless the USA. An incredible singer, you would never believe that this giant of a man could have such a beautiful voice. He was larger than life, as was his smile. You never questioned when he was truly happy—you could see it on his face.
Later in life, after retiring from GM at 55, Jim spent as much time on the golf course as he could. Running golf leagues, working part-time at the DeWitt Golf Center, and tackling Diane’s honey-do list, he stayed busy.
Never someone to have just one of anything, Jim’s last stand was his second broken hip/femur, where we joked that he didn’t need to go to such lengths just to have a matched set.
Jim cared deeply about people. You would often find him supporting causes he believed in—trying to help a friend or loved one, or lift them up in some way. If you would like to donate to one of his favorite causes, please consider making a contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the City Rescue Mission of Lansing.
Jim is survived by his sons Chad Mosier (Mary), Scott LaMacchia (Kim), Steve Spinner, and Kevin LaMacchia (Stacy); his daughters Kristen Houston (Jeff) and Robin Spinner; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his love, Diane Mosier, and his parents, Fred Mosier and Maxine Orvis Saxton.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel, 205 E Washington St., with visitation from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
