John B. Snider

John Bernard Snider, born March 23, 1952 to Milford and Marcella (Miller) Snider, passed away May 18, 2013. Mr. Snider graduated from Lansing Sexton High School. He served in the United States Navy in Vietnam, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and on the USS Rich. John was a member of the VFW DeWitt post #671. He worked as a shipping supervisor for Dart Container. He loved to fish and camp and was a fan of Detroit sports teams. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tim Snider; and brother-in-law, Jim Beckwith. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Lila (VandenBroek); sons, Brian (Amy) Snider and Greg (Amanda) Snider; Step-grandchildren, Taylor and Nick; sisters, Judy Beckwith, Bonnie (Don) Fisher, Barb (Bill) Dean, Sue (Joe) Hildenbrand, and Theresa (Rick) VanFossen; brothers, Bernard (Phyllis) Snider, and Mark (Deb) Snider; sister-in-law, Sheila Snider; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; step mother-in-law, Renee VandenBroek; and the beloved Sherman family. A memorial service for Mr. Snider will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, Michigan, with Elder Jack Benac officiating. Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, at the funeral home.
