Lila Mae Gibson

age 69, died peacefully surrounded by her family on January 06, 2022 at the home of her eldest son in Ovid, Michigan after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure.

Lila was born September 15, 1952 in Battle Creek Michigan to Theodore “Ted” & Shirley Moore. She graduated from Union City High School. She touched the hearts of many throughout different phases in her life from Union City, to South Riley, to Swartz Creek. Lila spent most of her days lovingly tending to her family. To pass the time while her children were in school and husband was at work, she worked at Rite Aid in DeWitt Michigan and later at Subway in Flint Michigan. Lila was happily married to Ned Gibson for 45 years at the time of her death.

Lila is survived by her husband Ned Gibson; 2 sons Steve (Vonda) Gibson & Chad (Mary) Gibson; 5 grandchildren Gabby (Nicolas) Shileika, Alex Shileika, Thad (Kelsey) Shileika, Drake Gibson & Luna Gibson; 3 sisters Rosetta “Ginger” Middaugh, Linda (Vic) Blanton, and Robin Campbell; 1 brother Terry Moore and numerous loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents Theodore “Ted” & Shirley Moore, eldest brother Theodore “Butch” Moore, and eldest sister Pauline Pipkins.

Lila enjoyed spending time with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed time with her grandkids and spent a lot of that time spoiling them. Lila loved her extended family at South Riley and could often times be found there with a broad smile on her face, laughing with her friends. On special occasions Lila and Ned would dance their own personalized waltz that they had created together and perfected throughout their years together. Those lucky enough to witness would see the couple sway and swing gracefully across the dance floor as they looked into each other’s eyes. Her witty sense of humor would keep the sharpest on their toes though, those who knew Lila best felt the warmth, loyalty, and love that emanated from her. Her house and her heart was always open to those she cared for.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday, January 15, 2022 - 11am-2pm and 3pm-5pm. Afterwards her family will be at South Riley Tavern located at 10777 Francis Rd. Dewitt, Michigan 48820 at 6pm if you would like to stop by and share a story.
