Marvin Bouma, 78, of Eagle, Michigan, passed away November 4, 2011, after a year long illness. He was born July 8, 1933 in Hull, Iowa to Peter and Lena (Baker) Bouma. He was a Navy Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Bouma graduated with a BA from the University of Texas and an MA from the University of Wisconsin. He taught Latin in Texas and English in Poland and Iran for a short duration. Mr. Bouma was the long time owner and operator of the Samarkand Boarding Kennel in DeWitt, Michigan. He was a member of the DeWitt Lions Club and the Akita Club of America. Mr. Bouma is survived by his wife, Rita J. Biddle, Esq. Marvin was one of 12 children. Angie (Bouma) Oosterhouse and Julie (Bouma) Bolt have preceded him in death. He is survived by Tracy (Bouma) Lobbezoo, Otto Bouma, Rev. Henry Bouma, Mildred (Bouma) Vanderlaan, Dr. Lowell Bouma, Elvira (Bouma) Corbin, his twin Dr. Merle Bouma, Kenneth Bouma, Joy (Bouma) De Groot, 31 nieces and nephews. Per his wishes cremation has taken place and his ashes will be spread over the hills of Northern California. There will be a celebration of his life in the spring of 2012.
