Nancy J. Cole

Nancy, our beloved mother and Mema passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with leukemia at the age of 76. She passed exactly one year after her dear husband, Basil, on June 26, 2013. Nancy was born on August 24, 1936 in Lansing to Raymond and Marjorie (Miller) Heydrick and graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1954. Upon graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Basil, and over their 57 year marriage raised a very tight-knit family and became friends with all who met them. Nancy was a very active individual and loved to golf, bowl, quilt and bake. She belonged to Asbury United Methodist Church, the Charming Bag Ladies (Quilt Group) and various golf/bowling leagues throughout the years. After raising her family, Nancy worked 18 years at Asbury United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister, Shirley Heydrick. Surviving are her three children; Cindy (Jeff) Fitzgerald of DeWitt, Scott (Evah) Cole of Lansing and Jeff (Mary Jo) Cole of Kirkersville, Ohio; her sister, Judith Heydrick; her ten grandchildren, Brie (Aaron) Lieto, Erica Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald, Nicci Cole, Brittney Cole, Zachery Cole, Autumn Cole, Drielle (Collin) Welch, Bo (Danielle) Cole and Morgan Cole; and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Lansing Road, Lansing, Michigan 48912 on Monday, July 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt, Michigan, and at the church one hour prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to Asbury United Methodist Church.
