Shane Julian Wilson, age 32, passed from this life unexpectedly on October 12, 2024, in Eaton Rapids, MI. Before his death, Shane turned his life over to Jesus Christ. As Christians we take solace in the fact that all of Shane’s tears have been wiped away and he is now in the presence of his savior. He also had a special devotion to Our Lady Mary, mother of Jesus.
Shane was born on January 29, 1992 to George D. Wilson and Kimberly J. Benway. He attended Perry High School, Western MI University, Lansing Community College, and had been accepted to Michigan State University to pursue a master’s degree in psychology. His ultimate goal was to open a men’s drug rehabilitation center. This is a population that he knew firsthand is underserved and needs more options for loving and caring rehabilitation. Shane’s greatest gift was the heart of gold that God blessed him with. He loved meeting new people and never met a “stranger.” Shane loved deeply with all of his heart and soul, and would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.
Shane’s pride and joy was his precious son, Myles. He loved his boy more than life itself and was so proud to be Myles’ “Da Da”, watching him grow day-by-day. He devoted his life to Myles and was the most caring and nurturing father. He also had a very special bond with his Grandma Marilyn and his Aunt Dianne, both of whom supported him with their loving care and guidance.
Shane was preceded in death by his stepfather, Richard Benway; Grandparents, Melvin and Gloria Shaulis, Keith LaBare and Jack Benway; Uncle, Kelly Shaulis; Aunt, Barbara Benway; Cousins, Kurt Shaulis and Tahlia Wilson-Taplin; and his beloved nephew, Oliver Wilson.
He is survived by his only child, son Myles Wilson; his parents, George D. (Renee Rueckert) Wilson and Kimberly Benway; brother, George C. (Anna) Wilson and niece, Charlotte of DeWitt MI, and brother, Mark (Marcia) Benway of Williston ND; grandparents, Marilyn Wilson-LaBare of Eaton Rapids MI, George W. (Betty) Wilson of Okemos MI; aunts, Stacy (Scott) Marcum of Laingsburg MI and Dianne (Willie) Carlisle of Lansing MI; uncles, David (Elizabeth) Wilson of St. John’s MI, Brad (Brett Rueckert) Shaulis of Lansing MI, and Dana Shaulis of Owosso MI; as well as many cousins and other relatives.
Shane was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his entire family, but mostly by his son, Myles.
Find peace and fly with the angels Shaney Boy. You will always be our Sunshine.
