Verna Mae (Sperry) Doty, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, age 100, of DeWitt, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Verna was born on April 23, 1924, to Clifford and Marie (Lown) Sperry, in Berville Michigan.
Verna is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Jim) Johnson; grandchildren, Drew (Rebecca) Doty, and Erin Dardan; great grandchild, Isaiah Dardan; nephew, Mike Lapinski and other nieces and nephews; and good friend, Dale Wolfgram.
Verna is preceded in death by her husband, William D. Doty; son, Douglas Doty; parents, Clifford and Marie Sperry; siblings, Wayne Sperry, Vonda Fierstine, Cliff (Donna) Sperry, and Donna (Watson) Lapinski; and special family member, Gregory Johnson.
Verna loved crocheting, gardening, reading, walking, antiques, cloisonné, jewelry, traveling, oil painting and watching TCM movies.
Her spirit will be sorely missed by all, but she will live in our hearts forever.
In accordance with Verna’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There are no services at this time. A family memorial will take place at a later date.
