"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith."
Dale Robert Landry, "Senator", 58, was called to Heaven on Sunday, March 15, 2015 in the comfort of his loving family. He was born in Paincourtville, Louisiana to Philip and Rosalie Landry. At a young age, Dale learned to drive tractors on the family farm where his passionate spirit and exceptional ability to pay attention to details enabled him to become an admirable sugarcane farmer. Dale had an infectious personality that made everybody love him. He never had a loss for words while enjoying visits with family and friends. Dale participated in many outdoor adventures such as hunting, fishing, and "playing" in the dirt on his three wheelers. He also enjoyed playing pool with his buddies who respectfully referred to him as a pool shark. His love of animals lead him to take great pleasure in raising rabbits, fish, and lovebirds. For over twenty years, Dale took great pride in being a loyal WAFB and WVUE Fox 8 weather observer for his small town of Paincourtville. Although Dale had Muscular Dystrophy, he showed evidence that he was able to take the ‘dis’ out of disability by adjusting his surroundings in order to live life to the fullest. Dale is survived by his two sisters, Janet Landry Walker and Darlene Landry-LeBlanc ; three brothers, Glenn Landry, Ricky Landry , and Joel Landry ; sister-in-laws, Linda Landry, Rachel Prince, and Stacy Landry; brother-in-laws, Jeramie LeBlanc and Rob Walker; five nieces, April Whalen, Rosalie Landry, Katherine Landry, Emily Landry, and Alyse Walker; three nephews, Jason Landry, Matthew LeBlanc, and John-Philip LeBlanc ; a great-niece, Ellie Marie Whalen and great-nephew, Jack Landry Whalen. He is preceded in death by his father, Philip Pierre Landry; mother, Rosalie Marie Landry; and brother, Keith Joseph Landry. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Paincourtville. Interment to follow in church cemetery conducted by Fr. Andrew Merrick. Arrangements under the direction of Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville. Pallbearers will be Jeramie LeBlanc, Juan Thibodeaux, Jeff Daigle, Barry Aucoin, Russell Himel, Danny Durocher, and Cliff Pizzolato.
