

A native of Henry and resident of Donaldsonville, Dorothy Richard passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the age of 87. Dorothy was a preschool teacher at Kiddies Korner and a homemaker. She was a longtime member of St. Francis of Assisi’s Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America, a Pink Lady at Prevost Hospital, and an avid supporter of DAARC. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, John Richard; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Richard, Nancy and Pierre Mabile, Melissa and Gordon Schexnayder; sons and daughters-in-law, John “Steven” and Kathleen Richard, David and Robin Richard, Troy Richard; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Leta Landry Trahan Broussard; father, Romile Trahan; step-father, Charles Broussard; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Richard; brother, Clarence Trahan; daughter-in-law, Paulette Landry Richard; and a granddaughter, Aimee Ourso Webb. Visitation will be at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Donaldsonville Monday, November 17, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Yi, celebrant. Entombment will be in the church mausoleum. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Boyd Ourso, Shannon Richard, Brady Mabile, Alex Richard, Duston Schexnayder, and Taylor Richard.
