Mark "Ike" Allen Bergeron

Mark Bergeron, resident of Donaldsonville and native of St. James Parish, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019. He was 92. Mark was a retired educator having served as a Principal of St. James High School for 25 years and then 11 years at St. Elizabeth School in Paincourtville. He also served his country as an Army Veteran of WW II. Mark was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge, served as a past President of the Louisiana Teleflora Association, and a member of The Louisiana Horticulture Commission appointed by Governor Edwin Edwards. He was also an avid golfer and LSU fan. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joel Noel Bergeron; two daughters, Marcelle Bergeron and Alice Olivier (Donnie); son, Bernard Bergeron (Lisa); two sisters, Linda Nelson (John) and Myrtle Ann Blanchard; and four grandchildren, Thomas Lehman (Rachel), Alexandre Olivier, Brandon Bergeron and Christopher Bergeron. He is preceded in death by his son, Roddy Mark Bergeron; parents, Walter and Myrtle Theriot Bergeron; and two brothers, Walter and Arthur Bergeron. Visitation will be at Ascension Catholic Church, Donaldsonville on Monday, November 18, 2019 from 8 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Entombment to follow in the church mausoleum. Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Baton Rouge at www.alz.org.

While I cannot be there in person, my heart felt thanks for friendship, plus great next door neighbor. You word of friendship helped me during my younger years. You would take a few minute to speak to me, just small talk. Some of your experiences. Yes, I do recall lots of that. Thanks. May out Lord God keep all of your family safe. That goes for your brothers & Sisters.
