Wyatt Edward Hartley, 52, passed away peacefully at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, on June 3rd, 2017 surrounded by his wife, daughter, and close friends. Wyatt was born on February 11, 1965 in Donaldsonville, Louisiana to the late Bobby Gene Hartley and Carolyn Ann Schaubhut. He was the youngest of three children.
Wyatt is survived by his wife Daelyn “Bugga Bear” Osborn Hartley, daughter Shelby “Pumpkin Lumpkin” Hartley, and sisters Kay Hartley and Claire (Mike) Hartley Grogan. He also leaves behind a myriad of friends and family that he truly loved.
Wyatt worked as a mechanic for over 30 years working on everything from yachts to automobiles. He always had some type of “project” he was working on. One of his many favorite pastimes was tinkering in the backyard to wee hours of the night. He also loved anything outdoors from fishing, to boating to spending days out on the Gulf Coast with his girls. Sunday dinners being cooked with Shelby and Daelyn was a ritual and it was known to meet at the Hartley’s on Sunday. He believed in “The more the merrier” and the memories made during these dinners will be cherished. His newest found love was his dog, as he called her, “the new Shelby”, otherwise known as Putt Putt. Wyatt never met a stranger and instantly became a friend to anyone he met and is still loved by many.
We would like to extend sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses who took care of Wyatt at Ochsner Hospital.
Services for Wyatt Hartley will be held Friday, June 9th from 1-5pm at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. There will be a get together after the service at Cafe Lafourche in Donaldsonville.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Camp Bon Coeur, www.heartcamp.com. in his name. Camp Bon Coeur is a summer camp for children with heart defects that Wyatt’s daughter, Shelby, attended for many years and still works there as a staff member. This camp is special to our entire family and it meant so much to Wyatt that his daughter truly enjoys camp.
