Alfredo Limón Ortiz, a beloved husband, grandfather, great-grandfather , son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend , was born March 13, 1927 in Encarnión de Diaz Jalisco Mexico. Alfredo met his Lord on February 17, 2014 at the age of 86. His parents Jose Limón Peña and Andrea Ortiz Limón had 4 children. Alfredo was the second to youngest of his siblings. Socorro, Rosa and Guadalupe. Alfredo was raised in Encarnación and attended Felipe Ramirez Catholic School. Persuing his love for singing and music he joined the childeren’s Choir at the age of 10 at Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación Church until finally becoming the church cantor for 25 years. For 18 years he worked as a butcher for Farmer John in Vernon, California. At the age of 63 his health forced him to retire. Retirement allowed him to spend time in his beautiful garden, play his guitar and sing; and of course time with his family, as his belief was”family first” and a “united family” through religion.
Alfredo met his first wife Maria del Refugio Casatañeda Verdin in 1953, married on June 25, 1954 and were married for 18 years. God blessed them with 9 children: Ma. Teresa, José Alfredo, Martha Alicia, Juan Francisco, Rosa María, Ma. del Socorro, Ma. del Refugio, J. de Jesús and Andrea Judith. In 1972 Alfredo’s wife Maria del Refugio joined her Lord.
Later in the year of 1972, Alfredo was blessed; married Clotilde Mercado Martinez and both were married for 43 years. With an unselfish heart Clotilde accepted all 9 Children as her own and together achieved the “American Dream”. God blessed them with 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Alfredo was able to keep his” family first” and a “united family” through religion.
Alfredo was an example of God’s perfect work. He was a living demonstration of all that is good and all that is love. Alfredo was: loving, religious, strict, elegant, smart, strong, giving, protective and very traditional. There was always room for one more at Alfredo’s table and home. Alfredo was always ready to give a lending hand to relatives, friends and strangers. Charity was a very big part of Alfredo’s life, as on monthly basis gave to numerous religious organizations.
Alfredo will be missed by his: wife, 9 children, 10 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends. Through religion and the prayer Alfredo’s family will remain united.
