

A Celebration of Life
A time to be born: June 27th, 1931 – The only son, was born to Dave Ramsey Sr. and Georgia May Merritt in Birmingham, Jefferson County Alabama.
A time to grow:Dave completed 12th grade in Alabama and shortly thereafter was enlisted in the Army, where he served as a Drill Sergeant in Fort Sill Oklahoma.
He received numerous medal of honors including
• United Nations Service Medal
• National Defense Service Medal
• Good Conduct Service Medal
• Artillery Marksman of special rifles and carbines
• Fought in the Korean War – where he also received a service medal with two bronze stars
A time to work: After serving in the in the Army, he married and began a family and moved to California where he attended junior college for one year and then a vocational school in auto mechanics. After a year or two he began his own business in building clutches. The one and only Cadet Clutch Exchange.He remained in business for over twenty years.
A time to love: He married a second time, dedicated his life to the Lord and became a Deacon at Second Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Los Angeles. He always had encouraging words to share with anyone he came in contact with.
He was generous, giving and always wanted to do things on a large scale.
His passion was fishing – whenever he got the chance, he grabbed his pole and tackle box and headed toward the lakes in his motor home.
A time to depart:On Sunday, October 23, 2010. God embraced him in arms for a loving journey home – May he rest in peace
He leaves behind seven children and twelve grandchildren, members of his church and a host of friends. He will truly be missed.
