Hope Valen was born in Bisbee Arizona on March 25, 1914 and returned to our Lord and Savior on October 19, 2009, she was 95 years old. With her Mother and Father she moved to Los Angeles where she did her schooling with her 5 sisters and 1 brother. As a young bride she and her husband Joe moved to nearby South Gate a suburb of Los Angeles. There they raised their 5 children Joe, Georgene, Caroline, Michael and Peggy. Her children provided her with many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and even 4 Great Great Grandchildren, most of whom still reside in Southern California! While her children and their children were her first priority, she managed to find the time to have some fun at hobbies such as ceramics and cake decorating to the extent that she made some beautiful wedding cakes for her daughters and friends. Another great passion of Hope’s was her love of cooking and she made some of the best dishes this side of the Border! But one passion she pursued all her life with the company of friends and family was her Bingo, she and Joe loved their Bingo!! Some of these gifts were even cited in the local papers at times!Hope was so loved by all her children and grandchildren, friends and neighbors, whom generously looked out for her in these later years. Although her husband Joe passed away some 15 years ago; hardly a few days went by that Hope didn’t have someone in the family visiting her.
