Linda Lee Casas

Linda Lee Veronica Maria Dolores Lopez Martinez Casas was born and raised in Boyle Heights to Veronica Martinez Leyba and Alfred Lopez Licon. She was a devoted partner and wife to Ralph E. Casas  for over 70 years and the loving mother of six children – two of whom preceded her in death.

Despite having two left feet and being tone deaf, Linda sang and danced her way through life, never missing the opportunity to have a party or to celebrate a holiday. Throughout her life, she possessed the unique ability to make people feel welcome and opened her home to anyone and everyone.

A lifelong learner, Linda returned to school after her fourth child, earning her high school diploma at the age of 26. She later obtained an AA as a Psychiatric Technician from Rio Hondo College at age 34 and, after having two more children, Linda earned her RN degree from Cypress College. In 1995, Linda achieved her BSN and served as Assistant Director of Nursing at Charter Oak Hospital. She later went on to complete the School Nurse Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program at CSULA and spent the final decade of her career serving the Chino Valley Unified School District before retiring at the age of 73.

Linda will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family – which knew no bounds. She leaves behind a large and loving family, including 4 children, 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Linda will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Miller Mies Downey Mortuary, 10229 Paramount Blvd, Downey, California 90241. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 7215 Newlin Ave, Whittier, CA 90602. A graveside service will occur Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, CA 90601.

Linda will be laid to rest in Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd, Whittier, CA 90601; Aspen Lawn; Gate: 1, Section: 2, Lot: 2908, Grave: 2.
