Marlys Jean Schenk

Marlys Jean Schenk was born to Gerrit and Jennie (Frederick) Lokhorst on October 8th 1933. She was born in Baldwin Wisconsin. Marlys was a twin to sister Marilyn Beyenhof. She came to California at age 7 with her family. Started first grade at Ramona Elementary, here in Bellflower. Continued schooling at Roosevelt Jr. High and graduated from Excelsior High in 1951. Married the love of her life Delmar in 1951, where they resided in Lakewood. God Blessed Marlys and Delmar with 4 children: Gary, twins Dennis and Diane and Karen. Marlys was housewife and stay at home mom, where she found a passion in gardening. She had the most beautiful flowers and plants. She enjoyed going camping, traveling across the U.S.A. and different countries with family and friends. She also enjoyed breakfast with her lady friends weekly, biking and golfing. Marlys became the grandmother to 9 grandchildren: Jason, Nicole, Melissa, Andy, Matthew, Lauren, Kim, Heather and Katrina. Later became great grandma to 17. The two most important things to her in life were her family and her faith to the Lord. She was a faithful and loyal member of Bethel Reformed and later Bethany CRC. She liked teaching Sunday School and helping with Pioneer Girls. They were also members of Couples for Christ. She is survived by her loving family: Gary and Renee, Diane and Vic, Karen and Robert. Grandchildren: Jason and Jessica, Nicole and Craig, Melissa and Michael, Andrew and Taryn, Matthew and Hilaire, Lauren, Kimberly and Jason, Heather and Daniel and Katrina and Rico. Her Great Grandchildren: Jake, Maddux, Nathan, Kirstin, Chase, Caleb, Bentley, Piper, Lilianne, Christian, Mason, Cody, Savanna, Clara, Kaden, Maverick and Sutton. Proceeded in death by husband Delmar, her parents, twin sister and son Dennis.
