After a lengthy illness, Alfred Sharp passed away at Wentworth Lodge on January 20, 2012, just 5 months after his beloved wife of 55 years, Patricia Sharp. He was a loving father of Paul Sharp (Denny) of French River, Laura Benkel (deceased 1994), and Alison Lake (Robert) of Ancaster. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren Michael, Holly, Jennifer, Thomas, Brandon, Connor, and Benjamin. He will also be missed by his brother Donald Sharp of Toronto, sister Iris Welch of Ayr, and sister-in-law Betty Lou Digby (sister of Patricia) of Mississauga. Alfred came to Canada from England at the age of 16 with one suitcase to his name. He joined the Hamilton Police Force in 1954, retiring as Staff Inspector in 1989 after 34 years of service. At Al’s request, there will not be visitation or a funeral. He has asked for a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers or cards, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in his name would be most appreciated. Many thanks to the wonderful staff at Wentworth Lodge in Dundas, and to Dr. McMillan. Their thoughtful care is deeply appreciated by the family.
