Donald Charles Rutherford

Passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, due to dialysis complications. Don was 79 years old. He will be sadly missed by his wife Irine Tynan, daughter Cindy (Chuck) Frankum, stepdaughter Bonnie (Rob) Fetter, grandchildren Jeremy (Sonia), Eric (Katie), Alex and Nolan, great-grandchildren Avery, Braydon, and “angel” Brody. Survived by sisters Donna, Barbara, Marjorie and brother George (Diane). Don was predeceased by his wife Donna Sardella, son Gregory, step-daughter Tammey, father Robert and mother Clara Gumbert, brothers Bruce, Stewart (Joyce), Robert (Connie), and Kenneth. Don worked as an engineer at Stelco for 32 years, was a member of Flamborough Golf Club for many years, bowled on a Stelco and the Go Getters league. He loved fun times with his family around the campfire and watching the boys play their sports. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, betting on the ponies and his Friday night poker game. Visitation will be held at the Marlatt Funeral Home “Swackhamer Chapel”, 195 King Street West, Dundas, on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Marlatt Dundas Chapel on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Dundas.
