The world would be a better place if there were more men like Earl.

I wish to convey to the Jerome family my deepest and heartfelt condolences on the passing of Earl. I was initially taken aback when I heard the news that he had been diagnosed with cancer. However, I was truly inspired by his courage and strength of spirit during his struggle especially prior to and following surgery. From what I gather from Elizabeth, he remained as positive and optimistic during this time as I had seen him from day to day during my time there. I have fond memories of Earl during the six years I spent in Hamilton. Although jovial and never short of a funny line, what I appreciated most about Earl was the respect in which he carried out his dealings with Tom and myself. Also the homely atmosphere of living at 136 Haddon Avenue South never for once made me consider the possibility of seeking accommodation elsewhere. After Earl retired (in 2008 I recall), I realized we shared a common and fervent interest in music and I even looked up some of the older music he had been interested in during the 50s and 60s. Another of Earl's passions (and one which I regretfully abstain from) was the many chores he undertook around the house to keep it in shape, especially during the warm and long days of summer. It was good to know that Earl would always fix a problem in the flat not long after we had informed him. Also, his annual major cleanup of the flat made it look all brand new at the start of the school year. Another endearing memory I have of Earl was him seated with a beer (I guess it was a "Canadian") out on the front porch with a catchy line to welcome me back home from work on the warm summer evenings. So I conclude that Earl was a good and kind man whose memory I will long cherish.

Earl was a prince among men--always cheerful, communicative, helpful, steady. He was someone you could count on, and very easy to talk with. I will miss him.

Earl was always a good man and a good friend in my memories. I was very sad to hear of he's passing. May he rest in peace and may you and Loreen be able to overcome that great loss. God Bless you.

You were a very kind and gentle soul, Always willing to help out whenever you could. I still remember you helping me out when I was in a pinch and needed help with my final year project, and it was no bother to you. You were always quick with a smile whenever we saw each other. I will miss the little chats and laughs we had every time you came down to the basement. You truly made that basement feel like a home away from home. Rest in peace, Earl. You will be sorely missed. (as I raise the cup you and Loreen got me for Christmas in a coffee toast, I love that cup by the way) To Earl!

I was so sad to hear of your dad's passing. Most all of my childhood was spent at your house. Your dad was a kind and gentle soul. I will always remember all the good fun we've shared, and never got in trouble for it! God Bless all of you.

Earl was always ready with a smile and a joke; always positive and highly reliable, he provided great support for Loreen in their work in the community. We miss you, Earl. Rest peacefully and may we meet again.

I had the pleasure of knowing Bill for many years through a working relationship at Elf Atochem / Atofina.  Bill was always a happy man and was always very pleasant.  My heartfelt condolences with thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I worked with Bill  for years, beginning with Pennwalt to Atofina.   He was always kind and considerate man.

Bill worked for me for 10 years at Elf Atochem / Atofina and he was always a bright light in the lab.  My sincere condolences.

"A home away from home" are the words which remind me of this happy, kind, gentle man. These are the words he spoke upon my viewing of his basement while I was still a student at Mac in search of a place to rent. He was an honest man, a warm-hearted man, someone who loved to stop and chat about anything. I remember being invited upstairs a number of times to share a treat with him and his wife. They were like my grandparents. I felt so blessed to have them both for landlords. Those two years living with Mr & Mrs Jerome are filled with so many pleasant memories. Few students can say they lived in a very nice place during their university years. But I found not only a nice place, but a home away from home.

So sorry to hear of Mr. Jerome's passing. I have fond memories of my younger years at the Jerome house, he was always so kind, and full of humour. He was a great poker teacher too! Thoughts are with you.. Family and Friends

Your quirky laugh, your talent at storey telling, those many chocolate cakes we shared these are our forever  memories . The selfless way you lived your life always there willing to do whatever for those who needed help. The glue that held everything together during the tough times. Truly a rare man in today's world. Until we meet again our dear sweet brother-law.

Earl was a great older brother to have,also a excellent mentor and it was easy growing up as a kid following his lead.

I am so very sad at the loss of Captain Earl.  You always made everyone feel welcome, and cheered everyone with your smile and and funny comments.  You will be sadly missed by so many who knew you.  Rest in Peace, my friend.  Reta

Words can not express how deeply sorry we are for your loss.  I can't help and think back to all the summers and Christmases our families spent together as kids.  Or how much us kids loved when my Dad and Uncle Earl did there goodbye handshake, moments I will treasure always.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all, please take comfort in knowing he is at peace.

I have never known nor will ever know....A more strong, brave, beautiful, dedicated, committed, thoughtful, selfless, generous, brilliant, talented, intelligent, courageous, incredibly amazing man. You were a man of honour, class and style. Dad...It was an honour and still is. I was the luckiest woman in the world and I still am. You were and are my best friend. Keep in touch. I love you more than words can ever convey. You know that. Not only were you my dad, you're still my dad......You were and are my HERO.
