Ellen now joins her dear husband, George Lawton. She will be deeply missed by her devoted son, Jim (Shelly), her dear brothers, Bob (Ronna) and Tom (the late Kathy), her loving sisters-in-law, Doris (the late Barry) and the late Jeannie, her beloved nieces and nephews. She was a proud and adoring Grammy to her two precious granddaughters, Emma and Skylar, who brought her immense joy and happiness. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
Ellen dedicated 40 years at Blackadar Nursing home, where she was the first RPN to be hired by Sandy Blackadar when they opened. Ellen formed lasting friendships that she always treasured deeply. She would talk about all the girls there and how they were all a part of her family, especially Debbie Dunn. Her kindness, warmth and gentle spirit touched the lives of so many, and she will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Ellen loved her time at the cottage, sitting outside watching her granddaughters swim and play, or just puttering around. Spending as much time there that she could, where she grew up with her close friend Sandy Mitchell.
Ellen also loved to watch Jim or the girls play any of their sports but mainly hockey. You could always find her sitting there and hear her yelling at them all to “SKATE”. She will always be their cheerleader.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful stay at St. Joseph’s Villa Dundas for their care, support and friendship during her time there.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation at Marlatt Funeral “Swackhamer Chapel”, 195 King Street West, Dundas, on Sunday, January 26th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery, 700 Spring Gardens Road, Burlington (Section 14, Row 11) on Monday, January 27th, 2025 at 11am.
