

After a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease, Evelyn went to be with her Lord November 1 at the age of 84. Evelyn leaves to mourn her brother, Harold and Joyce Wood of Lindsay, niece Shirley and Jim of Penticton, BC, and nephew David and Diane of Lindsay, her great nieces and nephews Kaitlin, Amy, Cassandra, Tyler and Lyle and greatgreat nieces and nephews Clara, Sophie, James and Danyyal. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Annie Wood, brothers Edgar and Harry and sister-in-law Marjorie. A Stelco employee for 37 years, Evelyn retired in the position of executive secretary. She was an active member of Chalmers Presbyterian Church. Evelyn's chief interest was the sport of five-pin bowling. She won many awards both for her bowling and for her volunteer efforts. Evelyn competed nationally and served on local and provincial associations and executives. She was especially interested in children, coaching, instructing and directing at the Mountain Lanes for 37 years. She enjoyed helping raise funds for the Children's Helpline. In 1979 she received an Ontario Provincial Award for distinguished contribution to Amateur Sports. The family would especially like to thank Evelyn's wonderful friend, Jessie for her help and support and also the caring staff of The Willowgrove. Cremation, private interment, Memorial Service Saturday, November 27 at 11:00 am at Chalmers Presbyterian Church. Arrangements by Marlatt Funeral Home, Hamilton.
