Although I had not seen Florence for many years, I remember her friendly smile as shown in the obituary photo, the way that she nurtured and cared for her students, her love of music and her kindness to others from our years teaching together at Pauline Johnson School back in the 1970’s.  May your precious memories bring  comfort to you.

Mme Lewis Calvert taught my daughter and I had the pleasure of joining her on field trips and in class from time to time.  A caring and fun person. I  loved her piano playing and sing -alongs not to mention teaching us how to properly open a banana.

I have so many wonderful memories of your Mother.  Remember when she and I drove off to Montŕeal for a weekend?  I believe you made us promise to 'Stay out of trouble'.   Florence continually amazed me with her ability to be so generous and compassionate. She always had room in her heart.

So Sorry to learn of Mom's passing.  Our neighborhood is deeply affected by this loss.  Our personal memories will be missed by the daily walks with Andy and other four legged friends, also the Numerous Medicinal Butter Tarts that appeared frequently from Mom's Kitchen.

Dear Eileen and Justin and all extended family, We have been holding you in our thoughts for weeks and are now grieving together the loss of an exceptional woman.
Florence was a dear friend and respected colleague.  Her intellect, sense of humour, musicality, grace and kindness were cherished  gifts and will be missed. It was my privilege to sing with her in the John Laing Singers for many years and at Ascension over the last few years. We will be with you on August 11 to honour her life.

Florence was our daughter's first teacher back in 1994,  and we remember her with great affection.  She created a warm atmosphere in the classroom as the children had their introduction to French Immersion.  She clearly enjoyed being with the children.  Such a lovely contribution to their lives.  The photo you have shared is just as I remember her.  We are grateful to have known her.

Dear  Eileen, thinking of you at this time!  Your mother was a very special person to me and my family.  She taught all three of my children and always made sure they felt special! Two examples of this is when she enthusiastically agreed to  attend my twins' soccer game.  They were thrilled to have her in attendance.  She also kept in touch with me about my daughter, buying her a Vegan cookbook when she was 20 years old.  We will miss seeing her walking her beloved dog in the neighbourhood.  Take care, Lori


Florence (Flo)  was our neighbour across the road and we had slowly gotten to know her and Andy over the years. We used to chat while she was out walking with him. She was funny, kind and had a quick wit. She would always give my kids a dog treat to feed Andy, and ask how they were doing at school. Flo,  you were so brave til the very end and fought a great battle. May you rest in peace. Our sincere condolences to you Eileen. May your mom's memories be a great source of comfort to you. Florence was always an ally when you needed her most. Stubborn in all the best and most admirable ways. Her impact on my life when it reached one of its lowest points was immeasurable, and I will always be thankful for having her support and friendship. 

We all know Florence was not only multitalented, and generous with everyone who knew her, but immensely practical too. All traits that she passed on to her lovely Eileen. We miss Florence, but will treasure Eileen forever.

Florence was a valued member of our Tai Chi group.  I appreciated her friendliness.  Talking to Florence always led to interesting insights.  She will be missed.
