

Gwen was the much-loved mother of Michael (Kim), Heather, and Mark (Grace). As a loving grandmother, she cherished her time with Craig (Lindsay), Dannika (Kevin), Zachary (Amy), Courtney (Nate), A.J. (Kelly), Andrew (Chelsea), Chris (Emily), and Rebecca. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Caeden, Avery, Ethan, and Logan.
She is survived by her sister Patricia and brother-in-law John Young, and was predeceased by her sister Barbara. Gwen will be remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews across Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, and raised on the Gawley family farm in Binbrook, Gwen pursued a career in teaching and dedicated many years to educating students in Ancaster and Dundas. In 1957, she married Woody Thompson, and together they raised their three children in Dundas.
A long-time member of West Flamboro Presbyterian Church, Gwen was known for her hospitality and quick wit. She loved spending time with her family and friends, reading countless books, and enjoyed a good single malt scotch.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Gwen's life will be held on Saturday Sept 14 at 1 o’clock at West Flamboro Presbyterian church In lieu of flowers, donations in Gwen’s memory to the general fund of West Flamboro Presbyterian Church, 262 Middletown Rd, Dundas, ON L9H 5E1, would be greatly appreciated.
