Born in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England, on May 12, 1928, Heather immigrated to Canada in 1952, becoming a proud Canadian citizen. She worked in an executive managerial capacity in the Geography Department at McMaster University for nearly thirty years and during her time there, forged lasting friendships with many graduate and post graduate students.
Heather enjoyed twenty three years of happy marriage to Edward Norman Halabourda (d. 2009) with whom she shared his love of family, travel and all things Canadian. Heather's greatest life achievement was the independent raising of her four children: Daniel Kislenko, Dora Kislenko (Peter), Annabel Scott (Tom) and Dr. Arne Kislenko (Darya). She was blessed to have five grandsons: Liam, David, Christopher, Michael and Dima and one very special granddaughter, Katya.
Heartfelt thanks are extended to the many wonderful caregivers who facilitated Heather's ability to remain at home in her "beloved Bond Street":Belle, Carol, Elaine, Jamilla, Julie, Nathalyia, Ruby, Sam, Songita, Sonja and Sue. Thank you to the Seunarine Family: Kim, Atheling and Sterling, for having been Heather's caring and supportive "best neighbours in the world".
Many thanks to Dr. Kien Trinh for his kindness and understanding, and for his participation in Heather's end of life journey.
Cremation has already taken place. A Celebration of Heather's life will be held at The Marlatt Funeral Home Family Centre, 195 King Street West, Dundas on Thursday, November 30th from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hamilton-Burlington SPCA. Dear Mum and "Manny", you were loved and shall be forever missed.

"I love a lassie, a bonnie, bonnie lassie,
She's as pure as the lily in the dell,
She's as sweet as the heather,
The bonnie purple heather,
Mary, ma Scotch bluebell"
- Sir Harry Lauder (1907)
