

Passed away peacefully, with her daughter "Suzie" by her side, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday,December 24, 2013, in her 95th year. Beloved wife and dearest soulmate, for over 60 years, of the late Dr. Vernon Tidey. Loving mother to Joanne (Stephen) Glithero of Cambridge, Dianne (Michael) Butler of Thornhill and Suzanne (John) Allum of Dundas. Proud grandma of David (Maria), Lisa (Geoff), Andrew (Laura), Philip (Leah), Stephen and Chris (Liz). Great-grandma of Jacob, Nicolette, Fletcher, Nellie, Brendan, Ryan and Jake. Survived by her sister Jean (Jarvis) Brook and her brother Jack Hyslop. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Margaret was the daughter of the late David and Alma (Tunis) Hyslop of Burlington. Daughter-in-law of the late Albert and Jane Tidey of Hamilton. She was predeceased by her sisters Marjorie Mills and Olga Fisher and her brother Andy Hyslop. Born in Dundas Ontario, Margaret grew up in Burlington and attended Burlington Central Public and High Schools. A graduate of MacDonald Hall Guelph'39 (Household Science). She was a proud and very active member of the Frost Group Big Sisters Association, the St. Paul's United Church Women's Auxiliary and the Garden Club (past president) of Dundas. Margaret was a life member of the Royal Botanical Gardens and a charter member of the Dundas Valley Curling Club. Together with Vern, she loved her summers at "Sunset Cabin", Hall's Lake (their cherished cottage for over 50 years) and the many wonderful winters they spent in Florida. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to mother's caregivers (especially "My Flo") at Sunrise of Burlington, her home for the last 3 1/2 years. A most heartfelt thank you to Sabrina Pelone (Bayshore Home Health) for her loving care and devotion to mom and for being such a wonderful support over the past 5 years to Joanne and Suzanne. Our special thanks to Dr. Ian MacDougall (Hospitalist- OTMH) for his compassionate care and to the nursing staff of 4West. To Yolanda Richardson, the palliative care clinician, and the kind staff of 3East, our sincere appreciation for providing the very peaceful setting for mother's final hours. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Private Service will be held at St. Paul's United Church, 29 Park Street West, Dundas on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 1 p.m. Reverend Merrill Graham officiating.
