She was the beloved wife of Anton Zuraw for over 50 years. Loving mother of Derek and proud grandmother of Paxton and Bren. She will be missed by her dear brother Larry, her niece Kate, nephew Craig and their families. She is predeceased by her parents Carl and Lena Zavitz. Nancy grew up in Westdale, attended the local public schools, Westdale, McMaster ’64 and the Ontario College of Education ’65. While at McMaster, Nancy was active in Drama, enjoyed being a reporter for the Silhouette and was a member of the fencing club. She went on to teaching in Hamilton and particularly enjoyed her assignments in the latter part of her career teaching adult ESL and Special Education for the Hamilton Board of Education. Nancy loved politics and was active for years in her local community. She served on the executive board of the McMaster Alumni and the Hamilton University Women’s Club. She loved classical music, jazz, true crime books, reading the business pages of the local newspapers, and the theatre. The last few years of Nancy’s life were a struggle as she courageously fought a myriad of chronic and debilitating conditions. The family thanks all the staff at Wentworth Lodge for their exemplary care during this time. Cremation has taken place and at Nancy’s request there will be no service. A donation in Nancy’s name would be appreciated by the family.
