The Celebration of Life has been rescheduled to Monday, February 17th, from 1:00-4:00pm, due to the severity of snowfall expected.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman Forster. He passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025 at the age of 83. Norm is predeceased by his beloved wife Tashme (nee Nishikawa) and survived by his children: Greg (Linda), Steve (Cynthia), Cindy (R.J.) and grandchildren Brittany, Sierra, Tennyson, Ryerson, Ian, Quinn and Amy. Norm will be dearly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him, including his siblings: Glenn, Doug (predeceased), Don, Barry, Ray, Marilyn, Lois, Linda, Wilma and many in laws, nieces, nephews, friends, neighbours and colleagues. Norm was a hard-working and incredibly talented man who showed loyalty, integrity and determination in everything he did. He loved his family fiercely and took great pride in anything his children accomplished.
Norm grew up on a farm in St. Marys, Ontario and always placed great value on education. He completed his post-secondary studies at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute by graduating from the Radio and Television Arts program in 1965. Norm spent his career working for the Hamilton Board of Education as the Information Officer (Public Relations). Norm’s work ethic was second to none. He didn’t hesitate to put in the long hours needed in order to get any job done. When not at work, Norm kept very busy. You could find him developing photos in his dark room, restoring antique cars, constructing or renovating buildings, gardening, visiting with neighbours, telling jokes or taking his family on camping trips. Norm always enjoyed spending time with his family and close neighbours when living in Pleasant Valley, Dundas.
We’d like to acknowledge Parkview Home for providing respectful and loving care over the past 2 years. We also want to thank Hill House Hospice for showing such compassion to Norm.
A visitation will be held for family and friends to remember Norm at Marlatt Funeral Home, Swackhamer Chapel (905-627-7452), 195 King Street West, Dundas, on Monday February 17 from 1:00-4:00pm.
For those who wish, memories and photos may be shared in an interactive online page, prior to or during services held on Monday February 17th, at: https://rw.mem.com/display/12225179
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill (hillhousehospice.com) or Parkview Home Long-Term Care in Stouffville (parkviewhome.ca).
